Eläinkortteja / Animal cards

Painatin syksyllä ensimmäiset taidekorttini ja se on ollut tosi jännittävää! Olen kiitollinen siitä, että ne ovat saaneet niin ihanan vastaanoton. Mahtavaa, kun muutkin tykkäävät näistä. Kortteja on suomeksi ja englanniksi.

Korteissa on sekatekniikalla toteutettu tausta, johon on liimattu päälle vanhasta eläintietokirjasta leikattu eläimen kuva ja romaanista leikattu teksti. Pidän siitä huumorista, mikä syntyy, kun nämä yhdistää.

This autumn I have made my very first art postcards ever and it has been super exciting! I’m grateful how well they have been received. It’s fantastic that other people like them too. I have cards in Finnish and English.

I have made the background on these cards with mixed media techniques and collaged an animal picture from old animal encyclopedias and text from old novels on top. I love the humor that this combination brings.

OKTK DT #73: Taidepostikortti / Art postcard

Huhtikuussa OKTK-blogissa tehdään taidepostikortti. Milloin olet viimeksi tai oletko koskaan tehnyt itse postikorttia? Nyt siihen on hyvä hetki! Lähde kuvitteelliselle matkalle ja lähetä sieltä postikortti.

In April, we create an art postcard on the OKTK blog. When was the last time you did or have you ever made a postcard yourself? Now is a great time! Go on an imaginary journey and send a postcard from there.

Korttini lähettää terveisiä maailmanympärysmatkalta. Käytiin tropiikissa moikkaamassa papukaijoja, Amerikan kaupungissa tutkimassa nähtävyyksiä ja Alpeilla patikoimassa. Vuoristokuva on oma valokuvani ja taustalla on gelli-levyllä tehty printti. Ja tietenkin pinkkejä roiskeita. Aina voi lisätä pinkkiä. :)

My card sends greetings from a trip around the world. We went to the tropics to greet parrots, explore the sights of the American city, and hike in the Alps. The mountain photo is my own photo and the background is a print I made on a Gelli plate. And of course pink splashes. You can always add pink. :)

Kortteja Panamasta / Cards from Panama

Matkustin joululomalla Panamaan, missä oli ihanan aurinkoist, lämmintä ja valoisaa. Onneksi olemme nyt Suomessakin menossa valoisampaan suuntaan. :) Panamassa ei ole kunnollista postijärjestelmää ja siitä syystä siellä ei myöskään myyty turisteille postikortteja. Halusin kuitenkin laittaa perheelle ja sukulaisille postikortit, joten tein sellaiset itse ottamistani valokuvista. Ei haittaa, jos siinä on Suomen postileima ja lomastani on jo viikkoja. :)

I travelled to Panama on my Christmas holiday, where it was sunny and warm. Luckily we are going towards more light here in Finland as well. Panama doesn't have a working post system at the moment, so they didn't sell any postcards either (at least we didn't see any). But I wanted to send some to my family and relatives and therefore I made the cards myself from pictures I took during our holiday. It doesn't matter if the card arrives weeks after my holiday with a Finnish stamp. :)


Seuraavat kolme kuvaa on otettu San Blasin saaristossa Isla del Diablo -saarella. Siellä oli valkoista hiekkaa, turkoosi vesi ja palmuja - oikea paratiisisaari! Ensimmäisessä kuvassa on myös virkkaamani hiiva. :)

The next three cards have pictures taken in the archipelago of San Blas on the island Isla del Diablo, which was amazing with the turquoise water, palms and white sand - a paradise island. On the first picture you can also see my crocheted yeast. :)

Tämän kuvan otin Panama Citystä, joka muistutti minua hieman Manhattanista korkeine rakennuksineen. Kaupunki on hyvin meluisa liikenteen ja jatkuvasti soitettavan reggaetonin takia (verrattuna siis Helsinkiin).

This picture is from Panama City, which reminded me of Manhattan with its high buildings. The city was very noisy with the loud traffic and non-stop reggaeton music everywhere (compared to Helsinki).

Joulun vietimme Bocas del Toron saaristossa Urraca-saarella. Yksityisen saaren emäntä oli koristanut vieraiden iloksi joulupuun. Joulupuu oli laitettu veteen, jotta saaren apinat eivät veisi joulukoristeita. :) Puuta oli mukava katsella terrassilta, jossa olin joskus lukemassa ja nauttimassa virkistäviä juomia.

Christmas we spent on the private island Urraca in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro. The hostess of the island decorated a lovely Christmas tree for the visitors. The tree was in the water, so the monkeys of the island wouldn't take the decorations. :) It was nice to look at the tree while reading and enjoying refreshing drinks.

Tässä vielä muutama kuva kortin yksityiskohdista. Kirjaimet leikkasin Alphabetical-stanssilla. Taustalla oli kahta erilaista teippiä, postimerkkitarroja, Big Shotilla leikattu perhonen ja glitterliimaa. Kyllä, laitan glitteriä joka paikkaan! :D


Here are some pictures of the details. The letters are cut with the Alphabetical die. On the background is masking tape, stamp stickers, butterflies (cut with Big Shot) and glitter glue. Yes, I put glitter everywhere! :D

Uudet jutut / new things

* postimerkkitarrat / stamp stickers

Yleensä unohdan aina ottaa välivaiheista kuvia. Nyt muistin ottaa yhden! :) Kortit näyttivät tältä ennen valokuvan liimaamista. Postimerkit valitettavasti peittyivät lähes kokonaan, mutta antoivat silti mukavaa matkustustunnelmaa kortteihin.

I usually forget to take pictures during the cardcrafting. Now I remembered to take one! :) Here are the cards before gluing the picture on top. Sadly the stamps are mostly covered by the picture, but they still give a nice travel atmosphere for the cards.

Tällä kertaa "työpöytäni" näytti tältä. Katselin koneelta lempisarjaani samalla, kun askartelin sohvapöydällä, jossa on ihan liian vähän tilaa. :) Nautin samalla teetä ja suklaata, namnam.

This time my "work table" looked like this. I watched my favorite series on my computer while crafting. The coffee table is way too small for me and my cards. :) I enjoyed a cup of tea and some chocolate.
