Elokuva-aiheinen pocket letter / Movie themed pocket letter

Tein toisen pocket letterin aiheella elokuva. Tällainen mixed media -kirje siitä sitten tuli. Tällä kertaa mukana oli myös oikea kirje (viimeksi ensimmäisessä pocket letterissäni oli kirjeen sijaan puhekuplia, linkki). Halusin, että mukana on erilaisia elokuvatyylejä ja siksi tässäkin on samassa kirjeessä mm. Minion, Charlie Chaplin, Rocky ja Chuck Norris. :)

I made another pocket letter with the subject movies. This is what it looks like with my mixed media style. This time I had a proper letter in it (last time in my first pocket letter I used speech bubbles instead of a letter, link). I wanted to have different film styles and therefore this letter includes f.ex. a Minion, Charlie Chaplin, Rocky and Chuck Norris. :)

Pussissa oli kiinni skumppapullon korkista leikattu pala, jolloin tasku ei paisunut liian paksuksi (tällä kertaa).

I cut a piece of a sparkling wine bottles cork and glued in on the pocket, so the card wouldn't get too thick (this time).

Näissä pocket lettereissä on aikamoinen homma. Varsinkin koska haluan koristaa myös takapuolen. Se näyttää muuten kovin tyhjältä, kun sieltä on otettu pienet lahjat pois.

There's quite some work on these pocket letters. Especially because I also want to decorate the back. Otherwise it would look very empty after the small gifts have been taken away.

Kesäisiä ATC-kortteja / Summer ATC

Kesä on nyt jo ohi (ainakin Suomessa), mutta on mukavaa muistella aurinkoista lämpimiä päiviä näillä ATC-korteilla. Nämä on kaikki vaihdettu jo.

Summer is over (at least here in Finland), but it's nice to look back and think of nice warm sunshine with these ATC. I have swapped all of these already.

Ensimmäinen pocket letter / My first pocket letter

Innostuin ATC-korttien lisäksi myös pocket letter -kirjeistä. Pocket letter (= “taskukirje”) on askarreltu kirje, jossa on yhdeksän taskua. Taskuissa on (mahdollisesti tiettyyn aiheeseen liittyviä) käsintehtyjä kortteja. Kortit ovat suunnilleen ATC-kortin kokoisia (ATC-korteista löytyy lisää täältä). Kirjeeseen laitetaan mukaan pieniä lahjoja askarteluun tai muuhun liittyen (esim. paljetteja, teepussi, washi-teipin palasia) ja yhdessä taskussa on myös kirjoitettu kirje. Tämä kirje vaihdetaan toisen askartelijan kanssa (tai miksei sitä voisi antaa jollekin ihan muuten vaan lahjaksikin) eli tekemällä pocket letterin saa ihanaa yllätyspostia! Sen kummempia sääntöjä tähän ei ole eli mielikuvitus laukkaamaan! Koristeita voi liimata myös muovipussien päälle (tässä kannattaa kyllä sitten tarkistaa liiman pysyvyys!), ne voivat kurkkailla taskuista tai roikkua sivusta.

In addition to ATC cards I also got excited about pocket letters. A pocket letter is a crafted letter with 9 pockets. The pockets are filled with handmade cards (often related to a specific subject) and small gifts (f.ex. sequins, a tea bag, washi tape pieces). In one pocket is a written letter. The cards are about the size as ATC (more about ATC cards can be found here). This letter will be exchanged with another crafter (or why not give it to someone just as a present). By making a pocket letter you get wonderful surprise mail! There’s not much more “rules” so let your imagination run free! Decorations can also be glued on top pf the pockets (then it’s good to check the stickiness of the glue!), they can peek out of a pocket or hang from the side.

Ensimmäisen pocket letterini aiheena oli tiede, koska halusin hyödyntää samaa hullua tiedemiestä kuin aiemmissa ATC-korteissani (ne löytyy täältä). Kirjeen voi siis suunnitella kahdella tavalla: joko kokoaa yhdeksästä kortista yhden ison kuvan tai tekee kaikista korteista erilaisia (usein ne silti liittyy samaan aiheeseen).

The theme for my first pocket letter was science, because I wanted to take advantage of the same mad scientist picture than I used in my Mad ATC series (the cards can be found here). So, the letter can be designed in two ways: either by making one large image with nine cards or making all cards different (often still with the same theme).

Seuraavaksi esittelen pocket letterini lähemmin. Toivottavasti lähikuvista saa selvää, minkälaisia tekniikoita ja materiaaleja olen käyttänyt. Kysy toki, jos jokin on epäselvää! Vastaan mielelläni. :)

Ensimmäisessä pocket letterissä kirjoitin jokaisen kortin taakse jotain puhekuplaan kirjeen sijaan.

Kirjeen päälle liimasin lasisen koeputken. / I glued a glas test tube on the plastic pockets.

Kalaonnea / Fishing luck

Veljeni on innostunut kalastamisesta ja siksi kalat uivat myös hänen syntymäpäiväkorttiin. :)

My brother is excited about fishing and therefore the fish swam into his birthday card as well. :)

Onki on perinteinen mato-onki oikealla siimanpätkällä, jonka päässä on kala kiinni. Siima näkyy aika huonosti (mikä on toki sen alkuperäinen tarkoituskin). Onki on tehty rullaamalla ruskeaa paperia rautalangan ympärille.

The fishing rod is a traditional worm-fishing rod with a piece of real fishing line that has a fish hanging at the end. You can't see the fishing line really well (which is of course the original purpose of it). The fishing rod is is made by rolling brown paper around a piece of wire. 

 

Tässä kesällä tehdyssä kortissa on vähän vähemmän mixed mediaa kuin uusimmissa korteissa (kuten tässä onnittelukortissa, linkki). Aloitin maalien ynnä muiden pastojen käyttämisen pikkuhiljaa. Mutta koko ajan enemmän ja enemmän. :)

Here on the card made in the summer is a bit less mixed media than on the latest cards (like on this greeting card, link). I started to use paint and other pastes little by little. But all the time more and more. :)

Olut tägi / Beer tag

Kiitän mielelläni ihmisiä pienestäkin asiasta jollakin käsityöllä (enimmäkseen se on ollut paperiaskartelua). Tällä kertaa kiitin oluesta pienellä tägillä. :)

I like to thank people even for small things with something crafted. This time I thanked for beer with a small tag. :)

Taustalla on Brewdogin olutoppaasta leikattu kuva fermentointitankista ja nurkassa on humalakäpy (vaikka ne onkin oikeasti hieman erinäköisiä, mutta käsityökaupassa nyt sattui olemaan näitä :)). Lisäksi vähän kohopastaa ja leimausta.

In the background is a picture out of Brewdog's beer guide with a fermentation tank and in the corner a small hop (even though they look slightly different in reality, but this is what the craft store had :)). In addition, a little paste and stamping.
