Starting as Paperilla's blogger in autumn 2014

Aloitan nyt syksyllä Paperillan bloggaajana ja esittelyni on luettavissa heidän blogissaan (linkki). Sinne ilmestyy nyt syksyllä joka kuukausi jotain jännää, mitä olen keksinyt askarrella paperista. Käykää ihmeessä tsekkaamassa blogia muutenkin! :)

I'm starting as Paperilla's blogger this autumn. You can read my presentetion (in Finnish) on their blog (link). I'm going to post something exciting in paper handicrafting every month on their blog. It's worth to check the blog itself as well!

Ja jotta tämä postaus ei jäisi pelkäksi tekstiksi, lopuksi vielä kesällä tekemäni kiitoskortti.  

And because otherwise this blog post would contain just plain text, I added a thank you card I made in the summer.

Kukassa on karttakirjan sivuista ja sen alla on rautalankaa. Se taipuu ihan hyvin, mutta sen liimaaminen on hankalaa. Tein aluksi kirjainpalluroista isomipia, mutta päätinkin valita pienemmän koon. Reunat laitoin taustaksi antamaan lisää väriä. Eli "virhe" kannatti! :)

The flower is cut out of a map page and under it is wire. It bends nicely, but is really hard to glue on the card. I made the letter circles first too big, but I used the rests as colorful backround. So the "mistake" was worth it! :)

Toinen iso hääkortti

Another big wedding card 

Olin kesällä ystävieni häissä ja hekin tottakai saivat itsetehdyn kortin. En ole antanut kaupasta ostettuja kortteja vuosiin. :)

I was in my friends' wedding this summer and of course they also got a self-made card. I haven't bought a card for many many years. :)

 

Tässä kortissa on mukana pieni pala karttaa (jonka leikkasin karttakirjasta, jonka sain ilmaiseksi kierrätyskeskuksesta), missä näkyy Japani, jonne pari suuntasi seuraavaksi. Siinä on keskipisteenä kaksi erilaisista skräppipapereista leikattua sydäntä, joiden alla on paperiruusuja. Niitä en tällä kertaa tehnyt itse, mutta näyttivät tosi suloisilta kortissa. Taustassa on vanha lahjapaperi uudelleenkäytettynä, valkoista glitteriä ja helmitarroja.

In this card there's a small piece of a map (I got the atlas from the recycling center for free) that shows Japan, since that's where they planned to go next. It also had two hearts cut out of scrapbooking paper (the other one was cut deliberately with the text "you can succeed" :) ). These paper roses I did not make myself, but they looked nice on the card. On the background there's old gift wrapping paper recycled and some white glitter and pearl stickers.

Äitienpäiväkortteja kahdella kielellä

Mother's Day cards in two languages

Tänä vuonna tein äitienpäiväkortteja suomeksi ja hollanniksi. :) Laitoin suomalaisessa versiossa tekstin värikkäisiin nuoliin ja liimasin kaksi itsetehtyä nappia seuraksi. Kimalleliiman lisäksi en laittanut muuta, koska kortti olisi ehkä tullut liian täyteen. 

This year I made Mother's Day cards in Finnish and Dutch. :) In the Finnish version the text is in colorful arrows. I added self-made buttons and some glitter glue. But otherwise I wanted to keep the card more simple because it could've been too full.

Hollantilaiseen korttiin tuli erilaisia teippejä ja itsetehtyjä paperiruusuja. Värivaihtoehtoja mietin taas tosi pitkään. Kaiken pitää sopia täydellisesti yhteen, muuten en ole itse tyytyväinen teokseen. Kai olen hieman perfektionistinen korttieni suhteen. :)

The Dutch card got different tapes and self-made paper roses. Again, I was thinking a long time about which colors I should pick. All have to fit perfectly because otherwise I'm not happy with the result. I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist about my cards. :)

Congratulation cards with flags

Sain jostain idean laittaa kirjaimet pieninä lippuina korttiin ja siitä tuli sen verran hieno tulos, että tein sen useamman kerran. :) Ensimmäisessä kortissa on mukana itse rullattuja paperiruusuja (11-vuotias pikkusiskoni opetti tekniikan minulle).

I got a idea somewhere that I could put letters (here Onnea = Congratulations) as flags hanging from the card sides. I looked so nice that I did that many times. In the first card I glued some self-rolled paper roses (my 11-year-old sister thought me the technique).

Toisessa kortissa liput roikkuvat hieman enemmän vinosti, joka sopi tähän yksinkertaisempaan malliin oikein mainiosti.

On the second card the flags are slightly diagonal, which looks quite nice on this more simple card.

Sieniä tutkinut tutkija väitteli, jonka takia myös onnittelukortissa on toki sieni. Leikkasin sen vanhasta saksankielisestä biologian koulukirjastani. Kortissa on myös hieman tieteellisempi tausta, jonka löytämisestä olin itsekin tiedenaisena ihan innoissani. :)

A researcher who studied fungi of course got fungi on her card. It's cut out of my old biology school book. The backround is also more scientific. As a science woman myself, I was really excited when I found this paper. :)

Teen tämäntyyppisiä kortteja varmasti vielä lisää (ja olen tehnytkin jo). :)
I will make more of these cards (and I already have). :)

Paljon uusia kortteja

So many new cards 

En ole piiiitkään aikaan päivittänyt blogiani, mutta se ei tarkoita ettenkö olisi askarrellut. :) Päinvastoin, korttitehdas pyöri koko ajan. Korttien askartelu on ehdottomasti tällä hetkellä lempipuuhaani. Rakastan tehdä kortteja ja antaa niitä ystävilleni ja perheelleni. Hymy ja mukava palaute riittävät minulle mainiosti palkaksi. Saan luovasta askartelusta ja uusien tekniikoiden kokeilemisesta tarpeeksi nautintoa.

I thought I'd start writing in English as well, since I also have non-Finnish readers. :) I haven't updated my blog for a very long time, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have done anything. :) On the contrary, the card factory has been rolling without a break. Making card is definitely my favorite crafting  right now. I just love making cards and I love giving them to my friends and family. Getting a happy face and nice feedback is a big enough reward for me.

Mitä syntymäpäiväkortti olisikaan ilman värikkäitä kuppikakkuja? :) Kuppikakut on leikattu skräppipaperista, jota en halunutkaan käyttää sellaisenaan.

What would a birthday card be without colorful cupcakes? :) The cupcakes are cut from scrapbooking paper that I didn't want to use as such after all.

Jos haluan ilahduttaa ystävää kortilla, mutta hänellä ei ole mitään merkkipäivää, voi aina toivottaa mukavaa päivää. :)

If I want to surprise a friend with a self-made card, but he/she doesn't have a birthday, I can always just wish a nice day. :)

Tässä kortissa kokeilin  laittaa myös värillistä rautalankaa, jonka liimaaminen oli yllättävän hankalaa. Se kaipaa siis vielä harjoitusta. :) Kortin keskellä on vahakirjain (minulla on tällä hetkellä vain G). Muut kirjaimet on leikattu stanssilla.

In this card I was trying to put some colorful wire, which was surprisingly difficult to glue. That will need some more practice. :) In the middle of the card is a letter made with sealing wax (right now I just have a G). The other letters are cut with a die.

Osanottokorttiin laitoin mustaa pitsiä, mustia valmiita pitsikukkia ja helmitarroja. Teksti on kohotettu oikeasta reunasta 3D-tyynytarroilla. Kortin sisäpuolella on leimattu pitsiä. Tarkoitus oli tehdä suhteellisen yksinkertainen mutta kaunis kortti.

On the attendance card I put black lace, black lace flowers and pearl stickers. The text is lifted up on the right corner with 3D-stickers. In the inner side of the card I stamped some lace. My objective was to make a simple but beautiful card.

Kahdella kielellä kaksi vähän erilaista mutta vähän samanlaista talvikorttia. Jälleen kerran, kenelläkään ei ollut syntymäpäivää (tai ne kortit oli jo tehty). :) Ensimmäisessä kortissa käytin Distress Ink -mustetta, mutta toisen halusin pitää hieman yksinkertaisempana.

With two different languages two a bit different and a bit similar winter cards. Once again, it was nobody's birthday or the cards were already done. :) For the first card I used Distress Ink, but the other one I wanted to keep more simple.
