Syksyinen inspiraatio

Autumn inspiration 

Inspiroiduin tekemään syksyisiä kortteja, joissa halusin testata uusia leimasimia, uusi papereita ja samalla paria tekniikkaa, joita en ole aiemmin testannut. Sain lehtileimasimet (Stampendous), jotka sopivat hyvin syksyiseen teemaan. Leimasin erilaisia lehtiä erilaisilla leimasinväreillä erivärisiin kartonkeihin, joista leikkasin ne irti.

I was inspired to make autumn cards where I could try my new Stampendous stamps, new papers and some new techniques that I haven't tried before. My new leaf stamps are really nice for autumn. I stamped different leaves with different colored ink on different cardboard. I then cut them out.

Ensimmäisessä kortissa on kangaskukka. Olen aiemminkin yhdistänyt kangasta kortteihin (esimerkiksi tässä), mutta en ihan tällä tavalla. Rypistin aika satunnaisesti organzakangasta ja ompelin sen keskeltä yhteen, ettei se purkaantuisi liimausvaiheessa. Keskellä olevan napin tein vanhasta T-paidasta, jossa oli valkoinen printtikuva. Nappeja olen aiemminkin tehnyt erilaisista kankaista lähinnä korvakoruiksi (tästä linkistä löytyy myös teko-ohjeet), mutta olen niitä käyttänyt myös satunnaisesti korteissa. Nyt halusin tehdä syyskukkasen minulle hieman uudella tekniikalla. Tekstiympyröitä leimasin hieman reunoista Distress Ink -musteella, jolloin nekin saivat hieman syksyisemman ulkonäön. Tekstit ja yksi lehti kukkasen alla ovat kohotettu kohotarrapaloilla.

In the first card there's a fabric flower. I have also previously combined fabric and paper on cards (for example here) but this time I made the flower out of organza fabric. I sewed it quite randomly together to make a flower-like bunch. The button in the middle I made out of an old black T-shirt with a white print. I have made buttons before but I have used them mostly for earrings (this link also includes a tutorial). The text got a touch of Distress Ink to make them old and autumny looking. The text and one leaf under the flower were lifted up from the backround with thick sticker pieces.

En ole aiemmin käyttänyt lankaa kortteissani, mutta näin sitä monien paperiaskarteluteoksissa ja halusin kokeilla sitä myös itse. Ostin pienen laatikon monilla erivärisillä langoilla, joten nyt on vaihtoehtoja. :) Leikkasin pari pientä pätkää lankaa ja pyöritin ne sormissa jonkinlaiseksi kasaksi, jonka laitoin kukan alle ennen sen liimaamista.

I haven't used yarn before in my cards and I really wanted to try that after seeing it in so many other amazing papercraft projects. I bought a small box with different colored yarn, so now I have a lot of them to choose from. :) I cut two piece of yarn and turned it around in my fingers to get a random bunch that I put under the flower before glueing.

Toinen kortti on ehkä hieman yksinkertaisempi, koska nyt en leikkinyt kankailla ja langalla. Tämä kortti meni työkaverilleni ja siinä on kolmella kielellä "Pidä hauskaa Prahassa", jonne hän oli seuraavaksi matkalla. Tässä kortissa päällimäistä paperia on leimattu ruskealla musteella hieman reunoilta. Yleensä olen laittanut glitterliimalla lisää väriä, mutta nyt laitoin myös kultaisia pieniä paljetteja, jotka näkyvät liimaa paremmin (jota tässä on myös).

This second card is a bit simpler, because now I didn't play with fabrics and yarn. This card went for my coworker who's leaving for Prague ("Have fun in Prague" combined in three different languages). For the paper on top I gave a little extra color with some Distress Ink. I usually put glitter glue, but now I also put small golden sequins that stand out better then the glue (which is sometimes nice).

Tein nämäkin korvakorut Fimo-massasta. Molemmat värit ovat itse sekoitettuja. Lampun sisällä olevan langan piirsin ohuella permanent-tussilla. Lopuksi lakkasin lamput, jotta ne saivat kiiltävän pinnan.

I made these earrings also out of Fimo clay. Both the yellow and grey color I mixed myself. The wire inside the light bulb I drew with a thin permanent pen. In the end I gave the light bulbs a shiny look with Fimo lacquer.

Päivä päivältä käy hankalammaksi valita sopivia korakoruja, koska ostettuja ja itse tehtyjä on kerääntynyt jo aikaimoisesti! :)

It's getting harder and harder to decide what earrings to wear because I have so many now - bought and selfmade! :)

Meillä oli kavereiden kanssa Oktoberfest-juhlat ja halusin Dirndl-mekkoni kanssa sopivat korut. Tein Lebkchen-sydämen ja sen kanssa sopivat korvakorut samanvärisestä Fimo-massasta. Sekoitin värin itse, jotta se sopisi Dirndlin värimaailman kanssa. "I mog di" on baijeria ja se tarkoittaa minä pidän sinusta. Se on aika yleinen teksti syötävissä sydämissä, joita myydään Münchenissä. Ruusun tein suunnilleen samalla tavalla kuten teen paperiruusuja. Rullasin ohuen pitkän palan massaa ja leikkasin alaosan tasaiseksi. Aiemmin tein Brezelin ja viiksitkorut, jotka sopivat Oktoberfest-teemaan (linkki).

We had a Oktoberfest party with friends and I wanted to have suitable jewelry with my Dirndl dress. I made a Lebkuchen heart out of Fimo clay and two earrings from the same color I mixed to match the color of my Dirndl. "I mog di" is Bavarian and means "I like you". It's a very common text on the eatable hearts they sell in Munich. The rose I made as I have made paper roses before. I just rolled a long slice of clay and cut the lower part more smooth. Previously I have done Brezel and moustache jewelry to go with my dress (link).

Christmas card with tutorial

Joulukorttiin on kiva laittaa oma kuva, jolloin niistä saa persoonallisemmat, eikä samanlaista ole takuulla kenelläkään muulla. Kasvot voivat olla liimattuina esimerkiksi lumiukon päähän kuten tässä joulukorttimallissa. Tähän korttimalliin menee aikaa noin 30 - 60 min.

It's nice to put your own picture on the Christmas card to make it more personal. Your face can be for example as a snowman's face like in this card model. You need 30 - 60 min for this card. (You can find the English tutorial below the Finnish one.)

Tarvitset:

Punaista kartonkia kokoa A5
Jouluista skräppipaperia tai muunlaista koristepaperia
Vihreää ja punaista kartonkia mistelin lehtiä ja marjoja varten
Valkoista ja punaista glitterliimaa (esimerkiksi Stickles-liimojen värit Diamond ja Candy Cane)
Punaista huopaa tonttulakkia varten

Valkoista narua (noin 15 cm)

Sakset ja liimaa

Kuva omista tai esimerkiksi lapsen tai lemmikin kasvoista (jos haluaa)

Mahdollisesti myös Big Shot -leikkuri ja stanssit Circles #4 sekä Festive Greenery

1. Taita punainen A5-kartonki puoliksi ja leikkaa saksilla (tai paperiveitsellä) sopivan kokoinen aukko.

2. Leikkaa kuviosaksilla jouluisen taustapaperin reunat näteiksi ja liimaa se kortin sisäpuolelle. Tässä käytin valkoista paperia, johon on printattu jouluntoivotuksia suomeksi ja englanniksi.

3. Leikkaa toisesta jouluisesta paperista kolme erikokoista ympyrää. Leikkamisen apuna voidaan käyttää Big Shot -leikkuria ja Circles #4 -stanssia.

4. Teippaa ne peräkkäin naruun esimerkiksi kuvioteipillä. Jos et halua, että toisella puolella näkyy teippi, voit liimata sinne toiset ympyrät samasta tai eri paperista.
5. Liimaa ylimpään ympyrään valokuva. Käytin tässä kortissa Anne Taintor -kuvasta lainattua kuvaa.

6. Teippaa narut kortin sisäpuolle aukon ylä- ja alapuolelle. Tässä voi käyttää jouluista kuvioteippiä. Teipin voi peittää myös samalla punaisella kartongilla, jos haluat. Leikkaa ylitulevat narunpätkät.

7. Leikkaa huopakankaasta pieni tonttulakki ja liimaa se lumiukon päähän.

8. Leikkaa neljä mistelin lehteä ja kuusi marjaa. Tähän voi käyttää taas Big Shot -leikkuria ja Festive Greenery -stanssia.

9. Liimaa mistelin lehdet ja marjat kortin ylä- ja alakulmiin.

10. Lopuksi mistelinmarjat voi koristella punaisella glitterliimalla ja tonttulakkiin voi laittaa valkoisella glitterillä säkenöivä reunus ja lakin päähän pieni pallero.

Ihastele valmista työtäsi! Värit ja kuviot voi halutessaan vaihdella eri kortteihin, jotta saa tekemiseenkin vaihtelua.

You need:

Red cardboard size A5

Christmas scrapbook paper or other decorative paper

Green and red cardboard for the mistletoe and its berries

White and red glitter glue (for example Stickles glues Diamond and Candy cane)

Red felt for the elf hat

White yarn (ca. 15 cm)

(Masking) tape 

Scissors and glue

A picture of your face or from your child/pet/toy (not necessary)

Possibly also Big Shot and the dies Circles #4 and Festive Greenery 

1. Fold the red A5 cardboard in half and cut with scissors (or a paper knife) a suitable hole in the front of the card.

2. Cut the edges of a Christmas paper with pattern scissors and glue it inside the card. I used white paper, on which I printed Christmas wishes in Finnish and English. 

3. Cut out of different kind of decorative paper three different sized circles (with Big Shot and Circles #4).

4. Tape them in a row on the yarn with for example masking tape. If you don't want the tape to show, you can also glue paper behind the circles (which I have done).

5. Glue the picture on the circle on top. I used a printed picture from Anne Taintor (I love the retro pictures!).

6. Tape the yarn behind the "window" of the card. You can use Christmas masking tape for this. You can also cover the tape with the same red cardboard if wanted. Cut of the extra yarn.

7.  Cut the elf hat out of red felt and glue it on the snowman's head.

8. Cut four mistletoe leaves and six berries (with Big Shot and Festive Greenery).

9. Glue the leaves and berries in the corners of the card.

10. Decorate the berries with red glitter glue and put some white glitter glue on the hat.

Admire your new handmade Christmas card! You can change the colors and papers to get some more variation between cards (if you are planning to make many).

Kohotarrapalojen käyttö korttiaskartelussa

Using double-sided thick sticker pieces in card crafting 

Kortteihin saa helposti vähän ulottuvuutta kaksipuoleisilla kohotarrapaloilla, joilla voi nostaa tekstiä tai pieniä kuvia paremmin esille.

You can get easily more dimension on cards with double-sided sticker pieces. They can be used to lift up text or pictures from the background.

Kohotarrapaloja on eripaksuisia. Itselläni on 3, 2 ja 1,5 mm paksuisia paloja. Tässä kortissa on käytetty sekä 3 että 2 mm paloja. Synttäri-sana on kohotettu muita sanoja enemmän. Seuraavassa kuvassa kortti näkyy sivusta, joilloin tarrapalat erottuvat. Paloja laitan palluran reunoille ja yhden keskelle.

There are different sized sticker pieces: some are thicker then others. I have pieces that are 3, 2 and 1,5 mm thick. In this birthday card I have used the first two sizes. The word 'synttäri' (synttäripäivä = birthday) is lifted more then the other words. In the next picture you can see the card from the side.

Kortissa on lisäksi kahta erilaista teippiä ja kolmella erivärisellä glitterliimalla tehtyjä pisaroita. Teksti on leimattu.

In addition I have used two different washi tapes and glitter glue to make colorful dots here and there on the card. The text is made with stamps.

Seuraavassa kortissa on liehuvat liput, joita olen kohottanut hieman vasemmasta reunasta. Ihan reunassa on 2 mm paksuinen tarrapala ja sen jälkeen noin 3 matalampaa palaa. Sen jälkeinen osio on liimattu korttiin. Myös keskimmäinen kuppikakku on kohotettu. Kuppikakut on leikattu skräppipaperista ja niitä olen käyttänyt myös aiemmin (linkki).

In the second card I cut out waving flags that say 'Happy birthday'. They are slightly lifted up from the background on the left corner, where I used a thicker sticker piece on the very end and 2 - 3 smaller ones before I glued the flag flat on the card. Also the middle cupcake is lifted up. The cupcakes are cut out of scrapbook paper and I have also used it before (link).

Kortissa käytin ensimmästä kertaa myös palluroiden ylijäämäpaloja (kuva alla), jotka muodostuivat Big Shotilla leikattaessa. Siistin niiden reunaa vähän pyöreämmäksi ja liimasin niitä kuppikakkujen taakse. Sopivat vallan mainiosti! Onneksi säästin palat (koska eihän sitä koskaan tiedä, mihin sellaisiakin joskus tarvitsee!). :)

Here I used the leftovers from the cutting of the round shapes (with Big Shot). I trimmed  the edges a bit and glued some behind the cupcakes. And they fit there perfectly! Luckily I saved quite many of these leftovers (because you never know, when you might need them!). :)

Viimeistelin molempien korttien ulkoreunoja Distress Ink -musteella. Tällä tavalla saadaan lisää väriä reunoihin (mikä ei tosin aina ole tarpeen) Se antaa myös vanhaa vaikutelmaa. Käytän värin tuputtamiseen meikkisienen palaa, mutta siihen löytyy ihan "oikeat" työkalutkin. :)

I gave the final touches for the cards with Distress Ink that I put on the sides with a make-up sponge. It gives more color and makes the card also look a bit old. There are also more "professional" tools for this, but the sponge works nicely as well.

Lopuksi leimasin kortin taakse handmade by -leiman, johon lisäsin nimeni. Ostin Saksasta hienon leimasinsetin, jossa oli erilaisia handmade-leimoja ja siitä lähtien olen lisännyt jonkun niistä kortteihini.

In the end I stamped 'handmade by' behind the card and added my name. I bought a really nice stamp set from Germany, which has many stamps like this.

Nyt on vielä käynnissä korttikeräys lastensairaalan hyväksi. Aloitin nyt niiden korttien tekemisen ja tässä ensimmäinen. Tämä on ensimmäinen korttini, joka menee myyntiin, jolloin on vielä perfektionistinen kuin yleensä. :) Tarkoitus on tehdä vielä lisää. Tule sinäkin mukaan keräykseen! Myyntirahat menee hyvään tarkoitukseen!

The card collecting for building of the new children's hospital. I started making some cards now and here's the first one. This is my first card, that goes on sale, so I was even more perfectionistic then usual. :) I'm planning to still make more cards. Come and join the collection! The money goes to a good cause!

Joskus satunnaisesti saan luovia pyllärryksiä myös töissä. Se on vähän sellaista hullua hiivan kasvatusta. Kuvissani on vahvasti mukana huumori ja ajattelin jakaa hiivojen ilosanomaa.
