Paperilla DT: Muistolaatikko / Memory box

Lahjaksi jouluna (tai mulloinkin) voi antaa toiselle muiston yhteisestä mukavasta hetkestä pienen muistolaatikon muodossa. Tein puolisolleni muistolaatikon pienestä tulitikkuaskista. Olen aiemminkin tehnyt tulitikkuaskikortin (se löytyy täältä).

Käytin paperina kauniita japanilaisia origamipapereita, jotka ostin siltä reissulta, josta kuvakin on otettu. Valitsin niistä hieman jouluiset (lähinnä värimaailman perusteella eikä niinkään kuvien :)). Kannessa on lumihiutaleleima, jouluista Candy cane -glitterliimaa ja valkoisia maalipilkkuja lumena. Päälle liimasin tekstitarroja.

As gift for Christmas (or whenever) you can give a memory of a nice moment you had together in the form of a small memory box. I made a memory box for my boyfriend from a small matchbox. I have once before also made a matchbox card (you can find it here).
 
I used nice Japanese origami paper, which I bought in our trip, where the picture is also taken. I chose the more Christmassy papers (mainly on the basis of the colors rather than the images :)). On the cover is a snowflake stamp, Candy cane glitter glue, white paint dots for snow and text stickers.

Koristelin laatikkoa enemmän sisältä. Laitoin valkoista kohopastaa lumihiutalesabluunan läpi pienen gessokerroksen päälle ja heitin vähän valkoista glitterjauhoa päälle. Tämän tein valmiiksi leikatun paperinpalan päälle ennen kuin liimasin sen askin sisälle. Tämä helpotti työskentelyä huimasti. :)

Valokuvan lisäksi koristelin askin sisältä tekstitarralla, kukilla ja helmellä. Ihan hirveästi koristeita pieneen askiin ei mahdu (toki enemmänkin olisin voinut vielä laittaa - mutta ei nyt tällä kertaa). Pieni origamilintu olisi sopinut täydellisesti vielä mukaan, mutta niin pienen origamin taittaminen on hyvin haastavaa ja päätin jättää sen myöhemmäksi kokeiluksi.

I decorated the box more from the inside. I put white modelling paste through a snowflake stencil on top of a small gesso layer and threw a little white glitter powder on it. I did this on a piece of paper that I cut ready before I glued it inside the box. This made working on it a lot easier. :)

In addition to a photo I decorated the box with a text sticker, flowers and a pearl. You can't fit that many decorations inside (although I could have put even more than this in here - but not this time). A small origami bird would have been perfect for this, but folding something that small is very challenging and I decided to leave that for later.

I put Christmas masking tape around the inner box.

Toki muiston voi laittaa myös isompaan tulitikkuaskiin tai pieneen kartonkilaatikkoon. Tämä meni tekemääni joulukalenteriin ja siksi se on pienempi. Tällaisia pienempiä askeja voi tehdä myös ystäville tai sukulaisille, jotka asuvat vähän kauempana. Nämä menevät hyvin postilla pienen koon ja keveyden takia. Muistoja on aina kiva jakaa!

Of course memories can be put also in bigger matchstick boxes or small cardboard boxes. I made this one for a Christmas calendar I' making, so I wanted to keep it small. These kind of small memory boxes can also be made for friends or relatives who live a bit further away. These travel well with the mail, because of their small and light size. It's always nice to share memories!

Tulitikkuaskikortti / Matchbox card

Kokeilin ensimmäistä kertaa tulitikkuaskikorttia, kun halusin yllättää avomieheni ison työDL päätteeksi hieman erilaisella kortilla. Idean tulitikkukorttimuodosta sain uusimmasta Ihana-lehdestä (linkki lehden sivuille). 

This was the first time I tried this matchbox card model. I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a different card after his big work DL. I got the idea for this model from the newest Finnish crafting magazine Ihana (link to their webpage).

Unopened the card looks like this. As a background I used "science paper".

Askin sivuissa on vintage-paperista leikkattuja tekstejä, jotka sopivat juhlahetkeen hyvin.

On the sides of the box there's paper pieces from vintage paper with texts that fit well for this celebration.

Kortin sisäsivuja koristaa kaunis washiteippi. En peittänyt koko sivua, koska minusta oli kiva, että vähän alkuperäistä valkoistakin näkyy.

The inner sides are decorated with nice washi tape. I didn't cover the whole side, because I liked that some part of the original white is also seen.

Sisällä on leimattu teksti "you did it!" (= sinä teit sen!).  

Inside the box is the stamped text "you did it!".

Alanurkassa on koristeena kukkia, metallinen ratas sekä PCR-koeputki, jonka sisällä on glitterliimaa (Sticklesin väri cool mint - uusi suosikkini!). PCR-putkia käytetään meidän alalla molekyylibiologian analyyseihin. 

The lower corner is decorated with flowers, a metallic cogwheel and a PCR test tube, which has glitter glue inside (Stickles color cool mint - my new favorite!). PCR tubes are used in our field for molecular biology analysis.

Molemmissa nurkissa on keltaista, sinistä ja vakoista maalia, jonka tuputtelin sinne pensselillä.

I painted yellow, blue and white paint in both corners for some extra color.

Kortissa on mukana pieni yllätysmomentti, koska se pitää erikeen avata, eikä kaikki krumeluuri ole kannessa, kuten yleensä. :)

There's a small surprise moment with this card, because the main card is inside and not on the cover like usually. :)
