Craft Stamper challenge: Spring Flowers

Osallistuin nyt ensimmäistä kertaa Craft Stamper -blogin Take it, Make it -haasteeseen (haaste löytyy täältä). Craft Stamper on tällä hetkellä lempilehteni, koska siinä on upeita mixed media -töitä ja ideoita. Nyt huhtikuun haasteen aiheena oli "Spring flowers" (eli kevätkukkaset). Tein aiheesta art journal -sivun.

This is the first time I'm participating in Craft Stamper's Take it, Make it Challenge (the challenge can be found here). Craft stamper is currently my favorite magazine, because it has wonderful mixed media art work and amazing ideas. Now, the challenge's April theme was "Spring flowers". I made an art journal page.

Taustan tein Distress Ink -musteilla vähän samaan tyyliin kuin tehtiin viime viikonlopun Liesbeth Fidderin leimailukurssilla (teen siitä erillisen postauksen pian), joihin roiskaisin vettä vierustoverini Elinan tyyliin (hänen upea ja tyylikäs bloginsa on täällä). Kukan piirsin, mutta sen lehdet, niityn ja ötökät leimasin. Kukkaa väritin hieman vesiliukoisilla öljypastelleilla.

I spread Distress Inks in the background  in the similar style like we did last weekend in Liesbeth Fidder's course (I will do a separate post about the course soon). On the ink I sprashed water drops like I saw my course neighbor Elina make (her fantastic and stylish blog is here). I drew the flower, but its leaves, the meadow and the bugs I stamped. I colored the flower slightly with water-soluble oil pastels.

On kyllä ihanaa, kun kevät tuli ja sen mukana aurinko, värikkäät kukat ja valo! 

It's so wonderful that spring has finally come to Finland, too! With the sunshine, colorful flowers and light!

Kevät tuli! / Spring came!

Kevät tuli ja sitä mukaan myös keväiset värit ja teemat askarteluuni.

Spring came and with it also the spring colors and themes into my crafts.

Tein samalla taas lisäksi muutaman ATC-kortin.

Itsetehty sabluuna / Self-made stencil

Inspiroiduin keväisestä ilmasta ja Paperillan blogivierailijan Sanna Lippertin hienosta tutoriaali-videosta ja tein oman pienen sabluunan, jota käytin tässä raikkaassa kevätkortissa. Käykää tekin tsekkaamassa upea video (linkki)! :)

I got inspired by the warm and sunny spring weather and Paperilla's guest's Sanna Lippert's lovely tutorial video and made my own stencil, which I used on this spring card. You should also go check the video for more ideas (link, it's in Finnish, but the pictures are the most important anyway). :)

Uudet jutut / New things:

* Käyttämätön stanssi / Unused die

Sabluunan tein piirtoheitinkalvosta, joita minulla on ylimääräisinä vaikka kuinka monta (niitä ei juurikaan käytetä alkuperäiseen tarkoitukseen enää). Tähän touhuun kannattaa olla pienet ja terävät sakset, jotta pieniä reikiä saa leikattua tarkasti. Tuputin kolmea eri väriä Distress Ink -mustetta pienen sabluunan läpi kahdessa eri kulmassa. En pessyt sabluunaa välissä ja siksi värit sekoittuivat kivasti.

The stencil I made out of transparent film. I still have plenty of them and they are not really used for their original purpose as overhead projector films anymore. For the cutting I recommend small and sharp scissors, so cutting the small holes is more precise. I used three different Distress Ink colors and two different directions. I didn't wash the stencil in between so the color mixed up nicely. 

Käytin kortissa vanhaa kiiltokuvaa, jossa on lintu ja kukkasia. Eli juuri sitä, mitä keväällä näkee enemmän. Kiiltokuva ja alareunassa oleva kuviopaperi peittivät jonkin verran leimattua taustaa, mutta sitä jäi näkyviin vielä riittävästi. Leimasinvärit sopivat hienosti yhteen kuvan kanssa.

I used an old gloss picture with a bird and flowers. The picture fit perfectly for this time of year since those two you start to see more and more. The picture and the scrapbooking paper on the lower corner of the card cover some of the stencil print. The colors work really nicely with the picture.

Kortin nurkkaan päätin pitkän pohdinnan jälkeen liimata itsetehdyn napin (tehty Fimo-massasta niinkuin monet aiemmatkin nappini). Alareunaa koristaa valkoinen tyllikangas ja kukkainen nauha. Pelkkä nauha näytti niin tyhjältä, mutta tyllin kanssa se on just niinkuin pitää! 

After a long consideration I put a self-made button in the lower left corner (it's made out of Fimo modelling clay like most of my buttons). The lower side is also decorated with tulle and a flower ribbon. It looked a bit empty with just the ribbon, but the combination is perfect! 

Tekstin kirjoitin tällä kertaa käsin, jotta sain sen mahtumaan pieneen tilaan. Tekstipohjana käytin stanssia (Squares, Asymmetrical), jota en ole juurikaan käyttäny eli sekin on korttiaskartelussani uusi asia. :) Käytin stanssin kaikkia kokoja tässä. Kartonkipalasia kohotin eri kokoisilla kohotyynytarroilla (paksuudet 0,5; 1,5 ja 2,0 mm). 

The text I wrote myself this time so I could fit it in a smaller space. The text is written on cardboard I cut with a die (Squares, Asymmetrical) I have never used for cards. :) I used all the sized here and lifted them up with 3D stickers (thicknesses 0,5; 1,5 ja 2,0 mm).

Harvemmin tulee näytettyä kortin sisäosa. Nyt (kuten monesti muutoinkin) leimasin aiheeseen sopivan kuvan. Tällä tavalla saa nopeasti ja helposti kauniin sisäosan. Ulkopuolella on usein niin paljon krumeluuria, että haluan pitää sisäpuolen yksinkertaisena.

Rarely I show the inside of the card. Here (as many other times as well) I have stamped a nice picture inside. This is a fast and easy way to decorate the inside of a card. Outside are some many decorations and colors that I like to keep the inside simple.

Lopuksi kortti ylhäältä. Takaosassa ei ole kuin handmade-leima. Se ei muuta tarvii. :)

Here's the card still from above. On the back is a "Handmade with love" stamp. It doesn't need anything else. :)

Keväinen kortti tulppaneilla / A spring card with tulips

Ihanaa, kun kevät tulee ja aurinko alkaa jo lämmittämään! Paperillan tiimiläinen teki meille keväisen moodboardin ja tulkitsimme sen tavallamme. Itse tein keväisen tulppaanikortin, jossa taustalla oli keltaista käsintehtyä paperia, jota väritin hieman lisää vesiväreillä. Kokeilin tässä ensimmäistä kertaa vesivärejä. Kyllä tämä mixed media -tyyli on hauskaa! Moodboardin ja kaikkien tiimiläisten ihanat teokset löytyvät täältä (linkki). On mahtavaa nähdä, kuinka erilaisia tulkintoja ihmiset tekevät samasta lähteestä. :)

It's so wonderful that spring is coming and the sun is warm! One team member from Paperilla made us a lovely moodboard, which we interpreted in our ways. I made a spring card with tulips that has a yellow handmade paper in the background. This paper got more green with watercolors. This was the first time I used watercolor. This mixed media style is really fun! The moodboard and other team members amazing works you can find here (link). It's nice to see how different works of art we made with the same source of inspiration. :)

Tulppaani on kuva, jonka olen leikannut kauan sitten jostain lehdestä. Aiemmin käytin enemmänkin lehtikuvia, mutta se on jäänyt lähestulkoon täysin pois viime aikoina. Löysin kuvat uudestaan ja pistin sellaisen tähän. Eihän kovalla vaivalla leikattuja kuvia voi olla käyttämättä! :) Ylimääräisinä tulppaanin lehtinä on huovasta ja kankaasta leikattuja palasia, jotka liimasin kuvan alle.

 

The tulip is a picture I cut out of a magazine a long time ago. I used to use more magazine picture, but not for a long time. Until I found my cut pictures and used one here. It would be a shame to throw all the pictures away! :) As extra tulip leaves I used pieces of felt and fabric. I glued them underneath the picture.

Sivuun leimasin tekstin ja tietenkin loppusilaus tehtiin glitterillä! :) 

The text "I wish you a sunny spring!" I stamped on the side and the final touch was - of course - done with glitter! :)

Kuvassa on rekvisiittana myös virkattu tipu. Onhan kohta pääsiäinen ja minä ainakin söin jo ensimmäisen Mignon-munani. :)

 

There's also a crocheted chick as props next to the card. Well, it's Easter very soon and I've already eaten my first Mignon egg! :) (Mignon eggs are real egg shells filled with chocolate, yammy!)

Yksi uusi asia/One new thing
Aloitin uutena asiana tänä vuonna facebook-sivun Siiri's handmade cards (linkki), jonne päivitän blogiani useammin tekemiäni kortteja. Sinne kannattaa mennä kurkkaamaan, jos korttiaskartelu kiinnostaa. Ja ihan muuten vaan tietty myös! :)

As a new thing this year I started a facebook page Siiri's handmade cards (link), to get my handmade cards more out there. Go and check it out of you're interested in the endless wonders of papercrafting. :)

Toinen uusi asia/Another new thing

Jatkan nyt keväällä Paperillan tiimissä. Esittelyni (ja koko muun mahtavan tiimin) voit lukea heidän blogistaan (linkki).

Mutta myös/But also

Siivosin ja järjestelin käsityötavaroitani ja löysin paljon kivoja "uusia" juttuja. :) Silloin päätin, että tänä vuonna kokeilen niitä kaikkia korttiaskartelussa! Eli kevät 2015 on täynnä (minulle, ei välttämättä muille) uusia tekniikoita. Jee, maltan tuskin odottaa!
 

I cleaned and organized my handicrafting stuff and I found many lovely "new" things. :) Then I decided that I will use all of them in my cards this year! So it seems that spring 2015 will be filled with new techniques (for me, not necessarily for others). :) Jei, I can hardly wait!

Kortista/About the card
Tämän pyöräkortin tein viime syksynä, kun halusin testata uuden pyöräleimasimen heti enkä huomenna.

This bike card I made last autumn when I wanted to test my new bike stamp right away.

Pyörän alla on kahta erilaista tyllin tyylistä kangasta, joiden päällä on vielä nauhaa. Pitihän pyörän jossain ajaa. :) Leimasin itseleikattuihin pilviin tekstin ja väritin niitä lisää Distress Ink -musteella.  

VINKKI: Jos sinulla ei ole valmista hienoa stanssia tms leikkuria, leikkaa kuviot itse. Itse teen seuraavalla tavalla: Piirrän kuvion (tässä tapauksessa pilven) satunnaiselle "turhalle" paperille (esim. aikakausilehden sivulle) ja leikkaan sen siitä irti. Toistan tämän niin kauan, kunnes olen tyytyväinen kuvion muotoon ja kokoon. Sitten asetan tämän mallin halutulle kartonkipalalle ja leikkaan sen avulla halutun kuvion. Paperimallin säästän tulevia askarteluja varten. Tähän korttiin tein kaksi erilaista pilveä. 

There's two different fabrics and ribbon under the bike - the bike had to drive on something. :) The clouds I cut myself out of cardboard and gave them a touch of Distress Ink. I stamped the text in them.

TIP: If you don't have a fancy die, don't worry - cut it yourself! This is how I do it: I draw the desired figure on some random paper (f.ex. magazine paper) and cut it out. I repeat this step as often as needed for the perfect shape and size. I set the figure on the desired cardboard and cut the shape with the help of this paper model. The model I keep for future crafting. I made two different clouds for this card.
