Journal52: Roots & Emerge

Olen hieman jäljessä Journal52-sivuston art journal -matkassa. Mutta luovuus tulee, kun se tulee, eikö niin? :) Tässä kaksi sivua, jotka tein.

I'm a little behind in the Journal52's art journal journey. But creativity comes when it comes, right? :) Here are two pages that I did.

Roots (eli juuret) - viiko/week 14

Näin jossain, kun joku oli tehnyt juuret tähän tyyliin ja halusin ehdottomasti kokeilla samaa tekniikkaa! Laitoin pienen tipan värillistä nestettä paperille ja puhalsin sitä eteenpäin pillillä. Kokeilin ensin maalia, jota olin laimentanut runsaasti vedellä, mutta se oli edelleen liian jämäkkää tähän tekniikkaan. Loppujen lopuksi päädyin käyttämään Brusho-jauheita sekoitettuna veteen. Vesivärit toimivat varmasti hyvin tässä. Vesi liikkui hyvin ja se meni hienosti omia reittejään. Jonkin verran sitä pystyy ohjaamaan, mutta ei täysin. Ja siksi tuloksesta tuli niin hieno! 

I saw someone made roots in this style and I definitely wanted to try the same technique! I put a small drop of colored liquid on the paper and I blew it forward with a straw. I tried this first with paint, which I had diluted with water, but it was still too thick for this technique. I ended up using Brusho powders mixed with water. Watercolors probably work here as well. The water was moving nicely and it went its own ways. You are able to control it to some extent, but not completely. And that's why the result was so great! 

Olen alkanut piirtää enemmän art journal -sivuissa. Piirsin kukan, mutta lehdet leimasin Carabellen leimoilla, jotka sopivat tähän täydellisesti. Kukan sisälle maalasin vähän keltaisella värillä. 

I have started to draw more in my art journal. I drew this flower, but the leaves I stamped with Carabelle's stamps that fit here perfectly. I painted the inside of the flower a little yellow.

Emerge (eli nousta tai ilmaantua) - viikko/week 10

Suihkun lasioveen meni pisaroita ja ne valuivat hienosti alas. Siitä sain inspiraation tehdä tämän tyyppisen art journal -sivun. Yläosan halusin pitää suhteellisen yksinkertaisena ja siksi siihen tuli tuollaiset pallot. Jossain näin tähän tyyliin tehtyjä palluroita ja piti sitäkin kokeilla! (Pitäisi laittaa inspiraatiolähteet ylös...)

On the shower glass door droplets flowed down nicely. That gave me the inspiration to make this type of art journal page. I wanted to keep the top relatively simple and that's why I ended up with these circles. I saw this style somewhere and had to try! (I should really save my inspiration sources somewhere...)

Paperilla DT: Pinterestistä bongattua / Inspired by Pinterest

Pinterestistä on kiva käydä kurkkaamassa inspiraatiota. Tosin ihania kuvia on niin runsaasti, että siellä tulee helposti surffailtua vähän pidempään. Tämän Miranda Bosch-Thurlingsin art journal -sivun doodlaukset pistivät eristyisesti silmään ja halusin kokeilla samaa. Tein sekä art journal -sivun että pienen canvaksen. On kiva yhdistää maalausta ja piirtämistä. Viime aikoina olen innostunut lisäämään enemmän piirroksia töihini. :) 

Pinterest is fun to go to look for inspiration. However, there's too many wonderful pictures that it's too easy to surf there a little too long. This art journal page by Miranda Bosch-Thurlings with its doodles caught my eye and I wanted to try something like it as well. I made an art journal page and a small canvas. I love to combine painting and drawing. Recently, I have started to add more drawings to my work. :)

"Lonkerot" maalasin mustalla maalilla ja pienet kohdat ja reunat viimeistelin mustalla tussilla. Minua ei haittaa ollenkaan, ettei ne ole ihan samaa mustaa. Tulipahan hieman erilaisia värisävyjä mukaan. :) Roiskin taustalle Dylusionin sinistä väriä, jolla värjäsin myös paperiruusut. 

The "tentacles" I painted with black paint and the smaller areas and edges with a black pen. I don't mind that they are not quite the same black. That way they give different color shades to the shapes. :) I sprinkled Dylusion's blue mist in the background. The paper roses are also colored with the same mist. 

Art journal -sivuun tein taustan Gelli-levyllä. Leimasin tähän musteen sijaan (kuten yllä olevassa canvaksessa) maalilla. Tähän käytin itsetehtyjä leimasimiani (koska niistä en ole niin tarkka, jos maalia jää siihen). :)

Tämä art journal -sivu muodostui Journal52:n edellisen viikon inspiraatiosta "emulate" (eli jäljitellä).

The art journal page's background I did with my Gelli plate. Instead of stamping with ink like on the canvas, I stamped with paint. For this I used my own handmade stamps (because with them I'm not so precise if some paint stays on it). :)

This art journal page was also inspired by Journal52's prompt from the previous week "Emulate".

Journal52: Skulls

Journal52:n inspiraatio "skulls" (eli pääkallot) oli oikein sopiva, koska silloin pääsin kokeilemaan uutta leimasintani! Leimasin sen taustalle ja embossasin sen valkoisella jauheella.

Journal52's prompt skulls was perfect, because it gave me the opportunity to try my new skull stamp! I stamped it to the whole background and embossed it white.

Taustalla on myös kuplamuovileimausta (jos et ole kokeillut vielä, suosittelen!). Leimaan tällä tekniikalla mielelläni (kuten täällä).

In the background I also stamped with bubble wrap (if you haven't tried it yet, I recommend!). I love to use this technique (like here).

Pääkallo on piirretty toista kuvaa apuna käyttäen kutistemuoviin. Reunat maalasin mustaksi ja liimasin sen sideharson päälle, jota värjäsin mistillä punaiseksi. 

The skull is drawn with the help of another image on shrink plastic. The edges I painted black and then glued it onto the gauze, which is dyed red with mists.

Journal52: Nerdy Love

Journal52:n viikon 7 yhtenä haaste oli "nerdy love" (eli "nörttirakkaus"). Seuraan innokkaasti Doctor Who -sarjaa, mutta innostun myös tieteestä (etenkin biotekniikasta). Siksi kuvassa on Tardiksen lisäksi käytetty uusia kemia-leimoja (IndigoBlun "Chemistry Lab" - tulivat juuri postista ja ovat superit!). Meinasin laittaa sivuun hiivapalluroitakin, mutta päätin säästää ne seuraavan projektiin. :)

Journal52's week 7 first promp was "nerdy love". I love to watch Doctor Who, but I also get excited about science (especially biotechnology). Therefore, in addition to the flying Tardis I also used my new chemistry stamps (IndigoBlu's "Chemistry Lab" - I just got them from the mail and they are awesome!). I almost added some yeast balls as well, but decided to use them in the next project instead. :)

The Tardis is printed from the internet (source) and painted with Distress Ink.

 

Taustalla on leimojen lisäksi mm. mustaa Brusho-jauhetta (kuvittelin, että sillä saisin avaruusmäisen taustan - en tiedä onnistuinko ihan täysin, mutta hyvältä näyttää silti!) ja Mica-jauheella sekoitettua kohopastaa (siitä tuli tuikkivat tähdet).

In the background is in addition to stamps also black Brusho powder (I imagined that I would get a space-like background - I do not know I succeed that well, but still looks good!), and the Mica powder mixed with gloss gel (the twinkling stars).

Journal52: Psychedelic

Journal52:n viikon 5 inspiraatioksi valitsin jälkimmäisen sanan "psychedelic" (psykedeelinen). Tulkitsin psykedeelisen sisältävän paljon väriä ja ympyröitä. Näin siis muodostui tämä sivu. Koska minulla oli vielä monta Hullu hiivojen kasvattaja -valokuvaa, laitoin tähän yhden, jossa minulla on vääntynyt "psykedeelinen" naama. :)

From Journal52's week 5 prompts I chose the second one: psychedelic. I interpreted it to contain a lot of colors and circles. So this page came out of it. Because I still had many Crazy yeast cultivator pictures, I put this one here, where I have a weird "psychedelic" face. :)

Journal52: Full Moon and Lunacy

Journal52:n inspiraatiosanat olivat viikolla 4 Full Moon (täysikuu) ja Lunacy (kuuhulluus). Päätin käyttää molempia. Hulluus tuli mukaan valokuvan kautta (ajattelin, että hullu hiivojen kasvattaja (Crazy yeast cultivator) on sopiva tarpeeksi hullu tähän) ja täyskuu muuttui ilmapalloksi. Olin tyytyväinen keksimääni ideaan, koska tykkään kaikenlaisesta vähän erikoisesta ja hauskasta. :D Valokuva loppui kesken ja siksi piirsin käden jatkeen itse (ja siltä se näyttääkin :P).

The prompts for week 4 in Journal52 were Full Moon and Lunacy. I decided to use both. Lunacy came from a picture of me (I thought the Crazy yeast cultivator would be crazy enough for this) and the full moon turned into a balloon. I was pleased with my idea, because I like quirky and funny. :D The photo didn't include my whole hand, so I had to draw it by myself (and that's how it looks :P).

Ehkä huomasit, että minulla on jäänyt viikko 3 välistä. Keksin siihen jonkinlaisen keskeneräisen idean jo, mutta en ole ehtinyt toteuttaa sitä vielä. Viikko menee äkkiä, kun on muutakin tekemistä! :)

Maybe you noticed that I have missed week 3. I have some kind of unfinished idea for that, but I didn't have time to make it yet. And a week goes quickly when you have other things to do! :)

Journal52: What I will say yes to this year

Löysin netistä sivuston Journal52 - A Year of Art Journaling ja ihastuin! Joskus tarvitsen nimittäin "ulkopuolista" inspiraatiota ja vuoden toinen haaste, josta aloitin oli täydellinen tilanteeseeni, jossa minulla oli hetkellinen tyhjä mieli art journalini suhteen. 

 
Toisen viikon inspiraatiohaaste oli "What are you saying yes to in 2016?" eli mille sanon kyllä tänä vuonna. Valitsin sanan "Journey" eli matka. Tänä vuonna monet asiat tulee muuttumaan ja matka on tällä hetkellä vielä tuntematon. Mutta sille on mentävä. :)

 

I found the website for Journal52 - A Year of Art Journaling and I loved it! Sometimes I need some "outside" inspiration and this year's second challenge, where I started from, was perfect for my situation, where I had a blank mind regarding my art journal.

 

The prompt for the second week was "What are you saying yes to in 2016?". I chose the word "Journey". This year, many things will change and the journey is currently still unknown. But I have to take it. :)

Mistit eli värilliset suihkeet ovat minulle vielä uusi tuttavuus. Kokeilin niitä ensimmäistä kertaa art journalissa. Suihkejäljestä ei tullut ihan mitä kuvittelin (yritin saada jonkin sortin pilveä) ja siksi vedin kerroksen valkoista gessoa päälle. Loppujen lopuksi olen työhön tyytyväinen, vaikka matkan varrella (heh, journey! :D) siltä ei tuntunut. :)

Mists (colored sprays) are still new to me. I tried them for the first time in my Art Journal. I wasn't really happy with the spraying result, because it didn't quite turn out to what I imagined (I was trying to get some sort of cloud). That's why I painted a layer of white gesso on top. In the end, I'm satisfied with the work, even if along the way (heh, journey! :D) it didn't feel so. :)
