Halloween pocket letter

Pidän kovasti Halloweenistä, koska silloin voi askarrella kaikkea jännää ja karmivaa. Se on sinänsä hassua, koska en tykkää yhtään kauhuleffoista. :)

Ostin ihania Halloween-aiheisia papereita ja kysyin, kuka haluaisi vaihtaa tällä aiheella pocket letterin. Sainkin kolme kiinnostunutta, joten tein samalla kolme kirjettä mixed media -tyyliini. Ne ovat aika samantyylisiä, mutta jotain pieniä eroja on. Kaikki kortithan ovat aina uniikkeja! Pocket lettereistä kerroin enemmän aiemmin (linkki).

I love Halloween, because then you can craft everything exciting and creepy. That’s a bit strange, because I don’t like any horror movies. :)

I bought lovely Halloween-themed papers and I asked who would like to swap a Halloween pocket letter with me. I got three people interested, so I did three similar letters with my mixed media style. Altough they are made with quite the same style, they have some differences. All cards are always unique! I described pocket letters more closely in my previous post (link).

Roikkuva pääkallohelmi ja "myrkkypullo" / Hanging skull pearl and "poison flask" 

Pahispinssejä Loot crate - yllätyslaatikosta, joka tuli meille (siinä oli sopivasti aiheena pahikset). Jälkimmäiseen maalasin reunat oranssiksi, jotta sain (aiheeseen kuulumattoman) logon poistettua. Sitten se sopii täydellisesti. :)  

Evil pins from the Loot crate we got (it had the theme Villains that time). On the latter one I painted the edges orange, so I could cover the logo (that didn't belong with the theme). Then it fited perfectly. :)

Maalasin kalan ja ketjun mustaksi, koska puhdas metalli ei näyttänyt hyvältä. 

I painted the fish and chain black, because the shiny metal didn't look good.



Alussa esittelin yhden kirjeen ensimmäisen rivin edestä. Tässä ne ovat lähempää. 

In the beginning I presented the first row of one letter from the front. Here they are shown a bit closer.

Tämän luurangon printtasin netistä (minulla ei ollut tarpeeksi Halloween-leimoja :)) ja värjäsin Distress Ink -musteella. Se sai hatun ja sauvan, jolloin siitä tuli luurankovelho. Sauva on pala oksaa ja sen kivi on vanhasta hajonneesta kaulakorusta.

This skeleton I printed from the Internet (I didn't have enough Halloween stamps :)) and colored it with Distress Ink. It got a hat and a stick, becoming a skeleton wizard. The stick is a piece of branch and the stone from an old broken necklace.

Tämä tanssiva luuranko on embossattu valkoisella jauheella ja lepakot kohopastaa levitetty sabluunan läpi.

This dancing skeleton is embossed with white embossing powder and the bats are soft matte gel with black paint applied through a stencil.

Ensimmäinen rivi takaa / The first row from the back

Käytin korteissa tarroja (koska sellaisia tuli papereiden mukana) ja mikrohelmiä.

I used some stickers (they came with the papers I bought) and micro beads.

Kokeilin laittaa myös Inka Goldia sabluunan läpi, mutta se ei toimi ihan yhtä kivasti, koska se irtoilee paljon helpommin kortista kuivuttuaankin.

I tried to put Inka Gold through a stencil as well, but it does not work quite as nicely, because it loosens much easier from the card also after drying.

Tämän kortin maalasin mustaksi ja sen päälle kirkasta krakleerausmaalia. Halkeamat eivät näy kovin hyvin, mutta siellä ne ovat! Silmät on piirretty valkoisella ja mustalla tussilla.

This card I painted black and put a layer of clear crackle paint on top. The cracks don't show very well, but there they are! The eyes are painted with a white and black pen.

Join Tokiossa salsafestivaaleissa meksikolaista olutta ja nappasin pullonkorkit mukaani. Nehän sopivat täydellisesti aiheeseen. Kyllä myyjä hieman ihmetteli, kun kysyin, saanko viedä korkit mukanani. :)

I had a Mexican beer in a salsafestival in Tokyo and took the bottle caps with me. After all, they fit perfectly here! The seller was wondering a bit, when I asked if I could take the caps with me. :)

Tässä on kaikki kolme pääkallokorttia vierekkäin. Taustalla on revittyjä kirjan sivuja, gessoa, leimausta, maalia ja värjättyä kohopastaa. Päällä on värjätty pääkallo, jonka reunat revin. Tuosta keskimmäisestä tuli aika kammottava. Hyvä niin! :D

Here are all three skull cards next to each other. In the background are torn book pages, gesso, stamping, paint and colored light paste. On top I put a colored skull with ripped edges. The middle one turned out creepy. Good! :D

Tykkään tästä kemistileimasta. Se toimii hyvin Halloweeninä ja myöhemmin, kun teen työ- ja opiskelukavereille kortteja. :)

I like this chemist stamp. It works great for Halloween and later, when I make cards for my work and study friends. :)

Toinen rivi takaa / The second row from the back

Takaosassa oli kolme erilaista Halloween-toivotusta. / I made three different Halloween wishes to the backside.

Tekstit leikkasin skräppipaperista ja alle liimasin hieman värjättyä aaltopahvia (ihan vain koska halusin laittaa sitä johonkin). Kuun maalasin pyöreällä vaahtomuovipalalla (pyöräytin sen ympäri ja nostin). Lisäsin varjostusta Distress Ink -musteella. En olisi uskonut, kuinka hieno kuu siitä tulikaan!

The texts I cut from scrapbooking paper and glued underneath a piece of colored corrugated cardboard (just because I wanted to put it somewhere). The moon I painted with a round foam piece (I rolled it around and lifted it). I added some shading with Distress Ink. I wouldn't have thought, how wonderful the moon turned out!

Tähän taustalle leimasin maalia puupalikalla, jossa oli kierretty ympäri lankaa. Bongasin vinkin netistä ja se todellaki toimii!

On this background I stamped paint with a piece of wood, which had wrapped yarn around it. I found this tip on the internet and it's awesome!

Kolmanteen korttiin laitoin B-pullonkorkin (Brooklyn-panimon korkit toimii tähän hyvin), koska minulla oli pääkallokorkkeja vain kaksi.

On the third card I put a B bottle cap (Brooklyn Brewery caps works well for this), because I had only two skull caps.

Tykkään käyttää mixed mediassa kierrätysmateriaaleja (kuten tässä aiemmin on saattanut huomata). Tämä verkko on rikkinäisestä pyörän koristani. Sehän näyttää melkein hämähäkin seitiltä, eikö niin? :)

I like to use recycled materials in my mixed media works (which you probably have noticed earlier here as well). This web is from my broken bike basket. It looks somewhat like a spiderweb, right? :)

Mukaan pääsi tälläkin kertaa Hullu hiivojen kasvattaja. Veden läpi on hauska ottaa kuvia,  koska niistä ei ikinä tiedä, minkälaisen lopputuloksen saa. Näissäkin kuvissa hymyilen. :D Enemmän hauskoja selfie -kuvia löytyy Crazy yeast cultivator -facebook-sivuilta (linkki).

Also this time the crazy yeast cultivator made it in my pocket letter. It’s funny to take pictures through the water, because you never know what the outcome will be. In these pictures I smile. :D You can find more fun selfies on the facebook page of the Crazy yeast cultivator (link).

Taskun päälle liimasin lepakon tarran. Siitä tuli tähän hauska efekti: onko siinä lentävä lepakko vai viikset?? :D

On top of the pocket I glued a bat sticker. It turned out to have a funny effect: is it a flying bat or a mustache?? :D

Ja mukaan tuli tietenkin myös pieni kirje. / And of course I added the small letter as well.
