Virkattu hiiva / Crocheted yeast

Olen aiemmin virkannut hiivoja ja muita pöpöjä Herbert-esitykseeni (täältä voit lukea näistä pöpöistä lisää), mutta nyt halusin tehdä pienemmän ja "normaalimman" hiivapöpön, jonka otin mukaan joululomalle.

I have previously crocheted yeast and other microbes for my Herbert performance (you can read more about it here). But now I wanted to make a smaller and more "normal" one that I could take with me to the Christmas holidays.

Hiivapöpö on vapaasti virkattu pallo vaaleanruskeasta langasta. Silmät tein valkoisesta pahvista ja suun piirsin suoraan palloon. Sen olisi voinut myös ommella, jolloin se olisi ehkä kestävämpi. Tein pari hiivaa lentokoneessa ja siksi minulla oli vain rajattu määrä tarvikkeita (en edes muistanut ottaa pumpulia mukaan, joten käytin muovipussin palasia). :) Eli kysymykseen, mitä tein lentokoneessa, vastaus on "virkkasin hiivaa". :D

The yeast is a freely crocheted ball from light brown yarn. The eyes I made out of white cardboard and the mouth is just drawn on the ball. It would have been better with a stitched mouth, but I only had a limited amount of materials on the plane (What I did on the plane? I crocheted yeast. :D). I even forgot to take wadding with me, so I filled the yeast with plastic bag pieces. :)

Edellisessä kuvassa hiivapöpö on San Blasin rannalla, jossa oli paratiisimaisemat ja lämpimät vedet. Käytin tätä samaa kuvaa, kun tein omat Panama-turistikortit (niitä voit käydä katsomassa täältä). Seuraavassa kuvassa ollaan Bocas del Toron saaristossa. Siellä hiiva löysin kaverin. "Lumiukko" toteuttiin saatavilla materiaaleilla, koska joka joulu pitää olla lumiukko. :)

In the previous picture the yeast is on the beach in the archipelago of San Blas, where we enjoyed paradise. I used this picture when I made my own Panama tourist cards (you can see them here). In the next picture yeast found a friend in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro. We made this "snowman" with the materials we found because every Christmas need a snowman. :)

 Suomestakin löytyi luminen kaveri hiivalle. 

The yeast also found a friend in snowy Finland.

Hiivojen virkkaaminen johtuu siitä, että kasvatan työkseni hiivaa ja siksi oli kivaa ottaa se myös mukaan lomalle. Kyllä hiivakin oli ansainnut lomaa. :)

The reason for crocheting yeast is because I cultivate yeast at work. Therefore I also wanted to take the yeast on a holiday. They also deserved that! :)
